Las Vegas
MGM Grand Arena
Located in the
MGM
Grand in
Las Vegas, Nevada, the MGM Grand Garden
Arena
is patterned after
New York's Madison Square Garden and equal to its popularity. It is one of the
main attractions of the hotel (aside from the Lion's Habitat and of
course the art-deco casino which is the largest gambling area in Las
Vegas).
The arena has a
seating capacity for 17,157 people.
MGM Grand Garden Arena is home to
concerts, the annual FOX Billboard Music Awards, the annual Andre Agassi Grand
Slam for Children Benefit, the VH1 Divas Las Vegas shows, and other sporting and
special events. From 1996-2000 it held wrestling's WCW Halloween Havoc PPV
event. It is most famous, however, for its prized championship boxing fights.
Some of the prominent fights that the Garden Arena hosted include Evander
Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya vs. Bernard Hopkins and Manny
Pacquiao vs. Erik Morales.
